I wasn't able to keep it up. Things got busy at work and I pooped out on "Forever Janette". So the schedule is off. There will be more when I can draw it, but in the meantime I've slipped into "House of Paulus" buffer to keep the updates going on the comix blog. I don't know how much of that I've got left. A few days, I think. Hopefully I'll get a chance to draw more soon.

Jenny likes the TV. She likes to look at clips of things she likes, fish and whales and stars and planets, even cartoons. We got her a few special DVDs, documentaries about nature and the universe. She loves them. She'll clap and point excitedly during the supernova recreations and when a cute little bear lopes across the tundra. She likes to sing along with Jem and the Holograms or laugh when Daffy Duck is flipping out. But when things get slow she'll wander off and play, come back to it, look out the window, flip through a couple of books.
Yesterday we flipped on the CBC to check out some locally made stuff, things her friends might be watching, even caught an episode of a show I did. The effect on her was shocking. Mostly 3D animation, oversaturated colours, almost constantly moving MTV-style camera, frantic -almost breathlessly- voiced OTT characterizations.... Jenny stopped moving. She stared. She was frighteningly riveted to the screen and wouldn't respond to anything else.

While it was mildly pleasing to see that the show I worked on was so fascinating to her, I was far more concerned with what it did to her personality. It turned Jenny off and left her as a stationary light-and-sound sponge.

A couple of short shows played through, but, fortunately, when something aimed at an older audience came on, she shook herself awake, headed to the TV and turned it off, then asked me to read her a book. Relieved, I did so.

Sometimes I feel like I work for the devil.

Having a little get-together for Jenny's 2nd Birthday today! (It was Thursday, but we're real busy during the week).

Due to some kind of server switch, the Comix Blog is still missing. Hilary's done a backup so it can, at some point, be put back up, but we've been waiting for a message from our host before we start taking matters into our own hands. So, stand by!
